Davines Hair Plumping treatment, €15 on top of a blow-dry (€32)
Aviary Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin
I have naturally VERY curly hair, so by its nature it’s really dry, then with all the extra work I have to put in daily to get it to be half normal, it’s usually in a permanent state of distress. I was heading to Aviary Lane, I’d heard loads of good things about the place but had never actually made it in. They do a brand called Davines that I’m obsessed with and can only get there, it’s all natural and organic, but there’s no faffing around and it delivers serious results so I was expecting good things. I was booked in with Matthew, who is fab, he works on photoshoots all the time so he knows how to give you amazing real hair, not hair that looks like you’ve just got it ‘done’. He started the treatment with a wash and condition with the hair plumping shampoo. After a towel dry the salon-strength treatment is put in, then you’re sat under a heat lamp for ten minutes to let it work its magic. After that it’s rinsed out and a leave-in version of the treatment is sprayed in. Now, full disclosure – I was a tiny bit hungover from a pretty full- on weekend and I don’t know if you’ve ever had someone wash your hair when you’re hungover but it’s basically like little fairies coming down and kissing your head, I was in heaven. Matthew then did his magic with the best blow-dry I’ve had in forever and off I went. Since then I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner at home and I can’t remember my hair ever being in this good condition, so full marks from me for this one!
