Avril Lavigne: Ten Years on

By  |  0 Comments

Feeling a bit old today? Prepare to feel a lot older! This week, ten years ago Avril Lavigne topped the charts with her teenage angst-y and slightly depressing hit ‘My Happy Ending’. To celebrate this and to cheer our (aged) selves up, we have rounded up our favourite looks on Ufashion.ie that pay homage to pop’s original punk princess.

Lest not forget our younger selves who would frequently copy her muti-coloured sweat bands, dark-denim cut-off skirts and striped ties thrown over just about anything (including vests, t-shirts and jumpers- literally anything).

But alas, just like the ‘Sk8er Boi’singer, who helped us all unleash our inner punk, we have matured and finally realised that there is more to life than edgy chiffon tutus.

With that said, here in U towers we want to pay tribute to Lavigne and her Goth Princess style (and yes Goth Princess is a thing, according to Tumblr anyway) and have put together the best of what Ufashion.ie has to offer that matches her punk style, only now in a slightly more grown-up way.

Leather, tartan, skater-style skirts and black were all over Autumn/Winter ’14 catwalks so if you think you may have outgrown your 10-year-old Lavigne-inspired wardrobe, take a look at these items. Yes, Avril Lavigne was definitely a little OTT  back in the day, but after much deliberation, we have found our top five pieces on Ufashion.ie that we can picture Lavigne in if she was stylish still popular now.

What do you you guys think? Will you be rocking grown-up punk this season?
