Heading to Punchestown or Galway Races this year? Don’t go unprepared!

It’s a scary thought how quickly the year is flying already. Sure there’s only one week left until May and where have the weeks gone? Another scary thought is how close summer events are starting to get; weddings, festivals and holiday season is finally upon us (anyone else having a bit of a freak out too? No? Just us?).

One of the other big events that marks the official beginning of summer for many (or end, for those who chose to cheer on horses in the west!), is horse racing.

Us UFashion.ie ladies may not get the hype surrounding horse racing, sure who wants to spend their money on a horse that’s probably going to lose anyway (presumably because we’ve picked that horse on the basis on which jockey’s outfit we like best)? But we definitely buy into the idea of taking a day off work, getting to dress up and wearing a fancy hat without the added pressure of a wedding.

Whats not to love?

Of course, our favourite thing about this process is getting all dolled up. Within approximately four hours you’re going to be complaining that your feet are too sore and you can’t go on or you’re absolutely feckin’ freezing because of your climatically inappropriate outfit or you can’t seem to flag down any taxi to get you out of there. But isn’t that all part and parcel of this glorious day out?

Feeling like royalty strolling around Cheltenham is always worth the post- (and mid-) racing consequences, right?

Of course it is! Because you get to put on a fabulous outfit and top if off with an avant garde fascinator or floppy hat and everything is right in the world again.
