6 Positive Life Hacks

This week is WAY harder than last week, so we’re adopting our inner Pollyanna and turning our frowns upside down – or at least trying to, with a list of easy and positive life hacks
- Text A Friend: It’s cold, we’re poor and it’s only Wednesday. Instead of going home and hiding under the duvet, text a pal and engage in some human contact. Knowing somebody else is miserable might make you feel better. We said might.
- Bite A Pen: Research shows that biting a pen engages the same muscles as smiling, so if we bite a pen enough we should be able to trick our brains into believing we’re in good form.
- Read More: Put down the phone, step away from the box set and pick up a book, magazine (hint hint) or newspaper. You might read something that will lead to a conversation starter in the morning. And if not you’ll give your eyes a rest from computer strain.
- Let Go Of A Grudge: Holding on to a grudge is like holding a burning piece of coal and expecting somebody else to feel the pain, to paraphrase Budda himself. If needs be have an adult conversation and decide to either end a relationship or put it behind you, either way, 2016 is no place for bitterness or bad feelings.
- MOVE: Get off your arse and go talk to a colleague instead of sending them an email. It’s much easier to hide behind your email and screen but speaking to people not only makes you move away from your screen but depending on who it is you might even crack a smile.
- Practice Gratitude: Make the most of the commute and think of one thing you’re grateful for. Oprah writes down five every evening in a gratitude journal, we’re not there yet, so we’ll think of one thing on the bus and hope it does the job.
