Alexa Chung for M&S

British fashion icon and lady of all things cool Alexa Chung, has teamed up with the high street store to create a collection that mixes styles from the 1940s right up until today. Her new Archive collection for Marks & Spencer has a nostalgic, timeless feel with a modern twist.

The aim of the 31 piece collection was to ‘rediscover’ styles from the past and bring them into the present day and they have managed to do exactly that! Staple pieces such as the classic Trench coat and floral summer dress have been given a new lease of life with gorgeous prints and great colours for S/S 2016.

The campaign itself was photographed by Tom Craig, with Alexa herself taking control of the feel and style of the shots.

Speaking about the collaboration Alexa said, “I have always had an affection for Marks & Spencer. I am thrilled to be part of this special and unique project. There was something very touching about looking back through the British fashion and social history for which M&S is synonymous.”

Belinda Earl, Style Director for Marks & Spencer described working on the clothes as being more about rediscovering the old than creating something completely new,  “Working closely alongside Alexa on this project was such an exciting way to develop a collection as it was more about rediscovery than design. We were physically able to look back through the decades and redefine the aesthetic of this collection; toying with influences from the forties, sixties, eighties and even the present day; highlighting how timeless and relevant style and quality can be”.

The Archive By Alexa collection is available in Grafton Street, Mary Street, Dundrum, Liffey Valley and Cork and online at marksandspencer.ie.

We can’t wait to get our hands on the collection, so here are some of our favourite pieces to brighten up your Hump day morning…
