We love doing…stuff. Creating, making (and making a mess). When such activities are teamed with afternoon tea in a five star hotel, well, all the better!

This is exactly what’s on offer at Conrad Dublin: arts and crafts (everything from calligraphy to flower arranging) and a traditional afternoon tea. Each workshop is on from 1pm – 3pm and is followed by afternoon tea in the hotel’s bar, Lemuel’s. It’s €120 per person, and that includes the class and the afternoon tea after all your hard work. The classes are limited to just eight people, so it’s not too intimidating if you’re a newbie. In addition, you’ll get lots of tips and can ask lots of questions over the afternoon. This week’s line up has a brilliant mix of creative carry ons, hosted by experts.

Thursday 22 February : Beginner’s Calligraphy with Sarah O’Dea

Sarah’s work has featured on TV and in films and she’s an expert at the fancy writing. (She’s a hand model too! Her paws have appeared in films such as Little Women and also
Vita and Virginia.) She’ll guide you through the art of calligraphy – no phone app required – and you’ll leave the workshop with your very own framed piece of work.

Friday 23 February, Beginner’s watercolour art with Kate Walsh

Kate has 30 years’ experience in painting with watercolours and has also illustrated children’s books. Whether you’re a newbie or a secret Monet, it’s the perfect chance to get creative. Kate will offer tips and tricks as you create your own masterpiece over the afternoon. You’ll be stopping off at the National Gallery on your way home to see if they want to display it…

Saturday 24 February: Contemporary Flowers with Mary Whelan

Mary is the owner of Eirlooms, a company that specialises in Irish art and craft. She’ll be on hand with her expert advice and you’ll be creating an Insta-worthy arrangement in no time. This workshop will guide you in the art of flower arranging and, even better, you can take your creation home with you.
