Why is it that, when it comes to choosing what to wear on date-night, we all fade into wallflower versions of ourselves? Catholic guilt? The national fear that God forbid, we'd look too keen?
Being low-key is great and all, but sometimes I just want to look a little sexy.
In most sartorial scenarios, I know what I'm doing, I know what I like and rarely turn to my girl's what app group for reassurance or to ask the dreaded, "So, what's everyone wearing?". But sexy dressing just doesn't really come that naturally to me.
It's not that I'm a prude, but sometimes the idea of getting all dolled-up gives me the gawks. It's just not really my vibe and I never end up looking like myself. My aversion to such though does cause an issue, when a particular occasion, say a date night, calls for something a little more flattering and a little less 'fashun'.
That was until I discovered the sheer top. With long sleeves and a high neckline, it feels grown up and a little bit vintage, especially the ones with micro polka dots. But the best part is, it's so easy to style - I like mine with leather or with touches ever-trendy leopard print and lots of dainty, gold jewellery. Oh, and it looks the right side of flirty too. No actual skin on show, but a fair suggestion of it.
If you're constantly delaying your other half, due to wardrobe issues, take my advice and add a sheer top to your collection. Here are some the high-street are stocking currently...
