Space buns at the ready!
The long-awaited Coachella lineup has just been announced and we don't mean to over-egg this but it really is incredible. Every April, we sit at home green with envy while watching our favourite celebrities attend the annual music festival and each year we swear to ourselves that we'll attend one year. Well, this is the year we're actually going to do it. We mean, with a lineup like this one, how could we not?
Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala will headline each night of the festival. Coachella has well and truly catered for all tastes with not only the headliners but also the other performers. The lineup also includes artists such as Janella Monáe, The 1975, Solange, Anderson .Paak, Christine and the Queens, Idris Elba, H.E.R and Ireland's very own Dermot Kennedy.
Coachella is celebrating it's 20th birthday this year and they're proving it's a year to remember by making history. Ariana Grande will become only the fourth female artist to headline the festival in two decades. She is also the youngest ever female artist to top the bill. The super popular K-Pop girl group, Black Pink will also be performing at the festival which will not only be their U.S. debut but also the first time a K-Pop band has played Coachella.
Coachella 2019 is not to be missed so here's everything you need to know about the festival and how to be sure you'll be there come April.
Coachella is held each year at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
The festival takes places over two weekends: April 12 to 14 and April 19 to 21. The one you want to book tickets for is April 12-14 (that's the weekend of Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala.)
Tickets for Coachella go on sale tomorrow, Friday, January 4 at 11 am PST. (That's 7 pm here).
There are three kinds of tickets you can purchase to Coachella; General Admission ($429), General Admission + Shuttle Bus ($509) and VIP ($999). When purchasing tickets, customers are limited to buying two tickets only. If you're planning to camp at the festival, you'll purchase a camping pass that'll set you back $125.
Tickets can be purchased using a credit card only so you may need to ask your Mam for a loan of her Mastercard or your Dad's American Express. Log on to the Coachella website today (Jan 3) and set up an account, that way you won't run out of time entering in your details tomorrow.
On the day passes go on sale, go to Coachella.com and select “Purchase Weekend 1” or “Purchase Weekend 2” on the homepage. You will be sent to the Festival Ticketing website to make your purchase. To be in the best chance of securing tickets, you're going to want to be on the site before Jan 4 at 7 pm. If you click before 7 pm, you'll be placed in a virtual waiting room until the sale begins. When the tickets go on sale, everyone in the waiting room will be randomly assigned a place in line. When it’s your turn, proceed by following the instructions to order all the festival tickets, camping and add-on passes you want.
If you're lucky enough to get tickets, passes are only shipped once so be sure to give an accurate address that can receive the package when delivered. Alternatively, international travellers (that's you) can pick-up their tickets at Will Call (the box office at Indian Wells Tennis Garden) when you arrive. You'll need a valid ID to collect your tickets.
How To Get There:
You have got an option of three airports to fly into when heading to Coachella; Palm Springs International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport or Ontario International Airport. Aer Lingus flies into both LAX and Palm Springs and flights for the weekend start at €657 return.
Once you land in LA, you've to travel out to the desert. There is a tonne of options available to you. You can rent a car and drive out but you'll need to purchase a parking space first. Coachella also runs shuttle buses from LAX and other destinations. There's also public transport on offer that can take you out to the desert.
See you on the Ferris wheel!
