Bright here, bright now.

Earlier this year when we began to notice the 80s was slowly but surely creeping its way back into the fashion world, there was one key trend we feared the most: NEON. But it turns out that this trend is anything but scary...when styled correctly.

Most of us haven't gone near neon since our school disco days (and even then we weren't too sure it was all that wise) but just like we never thought we'd be wearing hair clips well into our twenties, neon has made a comeback and it's finally time to start facing our fears. The trend is starting to creep its way onto our high streets and if you don't believe us, just look at Penneys SS'19 Collection.

The key with styling neon and not ending up looking like a walking highlighter pen is to use the trend as a subtle accent to your outfit and not make it the dominant colour. We mean sure you can go full on Kardashian and wear head to toe neon (and buy a car to match) but you'll risk the chance of looking like a traffic cone.

Instead, take a lesson from Instagram and see how your favourite style crushes style neon.

Knit Me Baby One More Time

If there's one foolproof way to nail the neon trend, it's with a bold knit. Style with a simple patterned skirt or pant to help balance out the boldness of the neon or chuck a blazer or band tee over the jumper to liven up those Spring layers.

Heads Up

If you think the blue light from your phone is bad, wait and you see neon up close. That's why wearing a neon beanie is not only a fashionable option but it's also kind to your eyes. You know what they say, out of sight - out of mind.

Pink About It

Neon pink is a much softer option than green or yellow meaning when styled correctly, can be surprisingly elegant. It brings a sense of electricity to your outfit without screaming glowstick. Choosing a neon pink coat will liven up any outfit, so much so - it'll become a wardrobe staple.

Life's A Bag

A glow-in-the-dark handbag might not sound like the most fashionable thing in the world but hey, it's 2019 and anything goes. Opting for a small neon crossbody is the easiest, chicest and most subtle way to give a nod to the trend. Plus, you'll never have to worry about losing your bag again.

Nailed It

Put down that nude nail polish and excite those hands. Not only is it an easy way to add a touch of neon to your outfits but it also doesn't require you going out and buying a whole new wardrobe.

You glow girl.
