We're taking care of the basics with this week's beauty picks. Ignoring the sparkle of the Christmas stuff for just a while, we're prepping for the festive season with nourishing skin and hair treats.

A natural Irish brand is back with a colourful new look and a great cleanser, while a new winter-proofing skincare set just might be our go-to for the next while. There's also a clever hair treatment and, of course, some cool new makeup arrivals too! Here's what we're after this week:

Absolute Cleansing Oil Gift Set, €27.90, Kinvara

Irish natural brand Kinvara Skincare is back with a colourful new redesign. The products contain formulations that are 100 per cent vegan and cruelty-free and are packed with certified organic plant oils. This cleansing oil suits all skin types and makes for good value too, with 100 uses per bottle.

Thermal Treatment Wrap, €6.99, ikoo

We love the idea of a hair treatment that’s works while we’re just chilling out. The new Thermal Treatment Wraps from iKoo do just that. There’s three in the range and each is designed to do a specific job. This one is Colour Protect & Repair; it's infused with lavender oil, juniper oil and basil to help nourish coloured hair.

Mixed Metals Nude Eyeshadow Palette, €11, Profusion at Boots

Our love of palettes is pretty much insatiable and this one from Profusion is on our hit list. It’s exclusive to Boots stores (and boots.ie), and there’s a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment! It has 9 wearable shades, with a mix of matte and shimmer textures so you can play around with loads of looks.

Hydrance Rehydrating Routine, €34.50, Avène

The weather is playing havoc with our faces so we’re going to stop messing around and get into a proper routine with good skincare. Eau Thermale Avène is one of our favourite ranges and its new Hydrance kit is a three step face saver with Micellar Lotion, Hydrance INTENSE Serum and Hydrance RICH Hydrating Cream.

Calligraphy Dip Eyeliner, €19, Art Deco

Art Deco is a brand that flies under the radar a bit but has some really good products. One of the new arrivals is the Calligraphy Dip eyeliner, in five shades. Along with that cool packaging it has a super-fin tip for precise lining. The formulation is long lasting, waterproof and free from mineral and fragrances.
