We chatted to Rochelle Humes about her latest edit with New Look
It’s almost Oscar Sunday, and fashion fans around the world are gearing up to rate the stars as they walk up the red carpet.
Happy Wednesday – Any plans for the weekend?
Not for the faint hearted By now the pictures from last night’s annual Met Gala have gone everywhere and people the world over are mulling over the photos in a state of awe and confusion. Awe because it takes something special to pull off a dress that looks like it came from the future without looking like you’ve gone a little crazy, and confusion as to how us ‘normal’ folk (whatever that is) are supposed to try and do the same. The theme of this year’s event was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology and there was no shortage of that from Beyoncé’s latex gown to Kim K’s silver Balmain creation. We feel like, with a little tweaking and a whole lot of subtlety, we can all give the look a go. Here are some of the best Met Gala inspired pieces we have found ...
Alexa Chung for M&S British fashion icon and lady of all things cool Alexa Chung, has teamed up with the high street store to create a collection that mixes styles from the 1940s right up until today. Her new Archive collection for Marks & Spencer has a nostalgic, timeless feel with a modern twist.
And spring into the new season in style!
A bit of shoespiration on a Tuesday! We can barely believe our eyes these mornings when we’re leaving our house to head to work and we can see what’s in front of us. The mornings are getting brighter and we’re actually visibly experiencing real daylight for a few minutes when we finish work too. That can only mean one thing: spring is coming (and inevitably summer too!) which is good news all round really. So, if you’re completely sick of heading to the gym or going for a run in the dark, then you’ll love the brightness and boldness of the runners on our wish list. 1. Nike Free 5.0 mesh runners, €130, Netaporter 2. Adidas Madoru 11 Trainers, €60, Littlewoods Ireland 3. Nike Roshe One Flyknit mesh sneakers, €137, Netaporter 4. Athletic Propulsion Labs, Prism mesh and rubber sneakers, €215, Netaporter 5. Adidas Stella Sport Ively Shoes, €105, Adidas 6. Niya Fitfoam Shoes, €60, Adidas 7. NYFW is like a military operation, a few short days jam packed with events spread all over the city.
We understand that it's one hard feat to follow the true glamour of the Golden Globes and it's even harder to impress when there's already so much anticipation for the red carpet at the Oscars. But we were only dying to pore over the red carpet looks from last night's National Television Awards over our tea this morning, which saw all our fave soap and TV stars battling it out in the style stakes. And it didn't disappoint, there were sequins and hairspray all over the place. Here are ten things we learned from last night's red carpet: No matter how gorgeous you are, nothing really says 'stunner' unless you have a decent stylist. Sorry, Michelle Keegan. It turns out Bun Donuts haven't gone out of fashion after all. Our bad! [caption id="attachment_7665" align="aligncenter" width="620"] Lydia Bright[/caption] When you're as toned as Tina O'Brien and on the smaller chested side of boob, you can pull off a plunging neckline perfectly! When you're Holly Willoughby, you can pretty much do nothing wrong! Just because you're a Lady, it doesn't mean you can get away with this sort of thing. [caption id="attachment_7668" align="aligncenter" width="620"] Lady Colin Campbell[/caption] Adding a pop of colour and a bad pair of shoes can ruin a perfectly lovely dress, as Alison King showed us... Marrying a rich man can help you look like a complete A-lister at all times. Velvet is really making a comeback. And we kind of love it! [caption id="attachment_7671" align="aligncenter" width="620"] Kate Garraway[/caption] Even Britain's Got Talent dogs know how to pose better than us! And finally, us Irish girls have the best sense of style... but sure we knew that anyway!
What will she wear? We have a few ideas She's done it, so now all attention turns to what is she going to wear. We're crossing our fingers at U HQ that she leaves the older traditional Oscar-style dress to Jennifer Lawrence and continues the super stylish run she's been on while promoting Brooklyn. Just look at her here? As Hollywood's newest kid on the block she can experiment like few others can. So what would we dress Saoirse Ronan in? Well we have a few thoughts in mind Dries Van Noten SS16 She's young, it's fun and it's also incredibly stylish - plus if we're being practical she could totally wear that jacket again! McQueen SS 16 Embellishment and fur? We're in! There's very few people who could carry this off but we reckon Saoirse's complexion would work a treat. Simone Rocha OK so technically this isn't this season, but she's already done YSL Couture so why not Simone Rocha? Rocha is Irish, youthful and uses the most Oscar-worthy fabric. It's the perfect partnership. Chanel Couture SS16 There just are no words. Maybe better shoes though! Marni SS16 Yes!
Have a root in your New Year's Eve party bag and see if you can find any cash, because we've rounded up the five best sale bargains of them all.
Your weekend wardrobe sorted.
Dublin's newest store is worthy of a visit.
And we want it all…
The Emmy Awards are like a sartorial sorbet that keeps us going until the Golden Globes and Oscars.
With Coachella on the way this weekend, we're getting very excited for festival season.
Emma Watson, Beyonce and Amy Poehler . Just some of our most inspiring women for #IWD2015! This morning in the UFashion.ie offices, we've all been feeling pretty empowered. Blaring 'Who Run the World (Girls)', while chatting about Emma Watson's live chat about feminism, as part of the UN's He For She campaign and talking about all the inspirational women in our lives and how we can support each other. It's been one hell of a morning! Why, you ask? Well, yesterday wasn't just your average Sunday: hungover, indulging in a fry and binging on the latest TV show in your life. If you forgot to check Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr and whatever other forms of social media you use, you might just have missed out on joining the praising of all women on International Women's Day 2015. Nothing has us buzzing more across social media than the gloriousness that was women talking about women, women supporting women, women asking for men to support the movement in creating an equal world for both genders. Nope not even The Dress had us this buzzing. The UFashion.ie ladies spared no time in discussing who our favourite feminist are and difficultly, narrowed it down to Emma Watson, Beyonce and Amy Poehler. No surprises here huh? Emma Watson and her He For She UN campaign, Amy Poehler and her unapologetically honest and public statements about the inequality in the world and Beyonce. Well, it's Beyonce. (Lest not forget who reminded us who runs the world!). All feminists. All incredibly strong, inspiring and amazing women. And all super freakin' stylish. They may be fighting for equal rights, but there's no denying these ladies look good doing it.
Showing off a bit of skin never hurt anybody, why not try out the look with a mesh midi? Here in UFashion.ie, we're no strangers to trying out some of the latest trends on the high street. And one thing that gets us V excited is when this high street look just so happens to be inspired by all the runway looks of the season. Midi skirts have been on the scene for quite some time now but last summer, a mesh midi-skirt was a must-have for any budding fashionista. This spring/summer, expect to see the mesh midi-skirt making not just an appearance, but a take-over. When midi-skirts came back into style a few seasons ago, us UFashion.ie ladies were thrilled (as were many of you we're sure!); versatile, stylish and super flattering on every shape. And what we love about the mesh midi is that is has all these characteristics while also being that bit more glamorous. Whether it's for your next Saturday night our or you want to pop it on for a not-so-casual Friday at work, the mesh midi-skirt will work for any occasion. Still not convinced? We can't accept that! UFashion.ie want to show you three ways to rock the mesh midi this summer. Get ready to flaunt your figure in a sexy midi and feel just FABULOUS. Oh and lastly, get those legs shaved ladies! Remember mesh=see through.
The winter chills may not be fully shaken off just yet but we're getting there It may be the first week of March but in the true spirit of Irish weather, it's still absolutely feckin' baltic out there. Snow, rain and hail are still the order of the day and we cannot wait to rid ourselves of this permanent cold and permanent wet socks/hair/coats. Spring may technically be upon us but us Irish gals know that the winter-spring transition process can last from anywhere between two weeks and five months. With this unpredictable timing of when spring will actually be upon us, UFashion.ie has a few recommendations for a quick and easy way to get yourself spring ready (while not becoming a victim of frostbite that is!).
Love her or hate her, there's no denying that Kim K got style She may not always get it right and we have to admit we've had a few feuds here in UFashion.ie towers over some of her outfits; half of us believing her outfits are fashion perfection and half of us thinking Anna Wintour would have nightmares over her latest look. But there's one thing that we can definitely agree on here in UFashion.ie; when she gets it right, she really gets it right. Who knows? Maybe Kanye does dress her but so what? When Kim's outfit is on point, it can start a worldwide envy of what she's wearing (and a worldwide inspiration for high st retailers when designing their latest collections). When Kim starting wearing crop tops and skirts, everyone started wearing crop tops and skirts! They were no longer an item from a distant Spice Girls-era memory for anyone anymore, they were the hottest purchase you could make. When Kim decided that cropped jeans and leggings was her thing, we're pretty sure Penneys cropped jeans were an overnight sell out.
Fashion-wise of course! Who wore what and who wore it best...
UFashion.ie is feeling a bit starry-eyed over this blond bombshell. Gettit? Sorry, cheap joke! But really, Ellie Goulding is definitely on our 'can't keep up with' list right now. Not only is she popping out chart-topping singles like there's no tomorrow, her Fifty Shades song 'Love me Like You Do' has been named the most streamed song in a week on Spotify ever. Yes, ever! Now you can see why we're finding it a bit hard to keep up with her lately. The artist, who did an eerily beautiful cover of Elton John's 'Your Song' in 2010, has since shot to fame and has headlined at festivals across the globe as well as completing two world tours. Not bad for a 28-year-old eh? Kylie Jenner might be buying her own mansion at 17, but Goulding, well she's a girl after our own hearts. Without doing a disservice to Ellie, the reason we love her is quite simple. In a bit of a Lily Allen way, we can picture Goulding being as normal as us everyday gals. Tying your greasy hair up on a hungover Sunday, popping out to grab some milk in a pair of trackies (think she's even been papped doing that!), eating a whole pizza and not even feeling guilty about it, wearing some massive granny pantys when you just don't feel up to anything else. These are things we can literally picture Ellie doing. Now think of Beyonce doing these things, nope it just doesn't work. Still not convinced you're a fan? Well after reading this Vice interview, we're pretty sure she may just be the coolest, most normal celeb out there. Here's a snippet we think you'll like;
You may be quite surprised to see who our number one is! The biggest event in film of the year took place last night and there was a phenomenal amount of incredible winners. From Interstellar winning Best Visual Effects to Eddie Redmayn and his Best Actor award for his breathtakingly good (or Oscar winningly good!) performance in The Theory of Everything, it truly was a night to remember. And as interested as we are in who won what, it's who wore what that is intriguing us even more. The wins may have been the the biggest adrenaline rush for many of these actors, screen writers, music producers and more, but checking out the gowns is what kept our buzz rushing! UFashion.ie, after much deliberation, have narrowed down our favourite Oscars gowns to just 20! It was a close call between a few but we can safely say that we think we've found all the best looks on the red carpet from last night. Whether you're interested in a more demure gown with tonnes of attitude or the biggest princess dress with mountains of layers is more your thing, both the nominees and attendees truly pulled out all the stops to deliver some of the best fashion moments in Oscars history.
The Girls star is quickly becoming one of the stars of NYFW too! Check out some of her looks here Allison Williams is a girl after our own hearts. Not that we have anything in common with her stuck-up, egotistical and completely selfish character Marnie from Girls-we hope, but we sure as hell like Allison in real life. Not divulging too much of her personal life into the limelight was a good shout by Williams but us UFashion.ie ladies think that her elegant, unique and girly style is what will have her at the centre of media attention in no time at all. The new it girl? We think so! Apart from her style (did we mention its flawless?), Williams is one of the few girls on Girls that we'd actually like to be friends with. If you've ever seen this adorable lady in an interview, you'll know exactly what we mean. Maybe we're being naive, but she has the perfect balance of confidence and modesty, nearly coming across like she's not really sure why shes there. Yes, yes, yes this may all be for show, but right now we're crushing on both Allison Williams and Allison William's epic style.
The fashioniest of fashion events. We takes a look at who wore what and who wore it best! With only 3 days left of one of the biggest fashion events in the world, UFashion.ie has taken a look at who some of our best dressed celebs were over the last week. From Mr Kanye West's *ahem* interesting collection to Monique Lullihier's predictable stunning show and all the after-parties in between, its been a hectic week. The little fashion spies in UFashion.ie have kept their eyes peeled on fashion week and have noticed that celebs, stylists, designers and fashionistas alike have truly pulled out all the stops this year. And while some of the more eccentric styles, like multi-coloured fur coats and printed tights on the bloggers hanging around outside haven't tickled our fancy, we have definitely seen some show-stopping style. First up we have Rihanna! Rihanna is pictured here wearing (one of UFashion.ie's all-time favourites) a fur coat, and pink none the less. Inspired by Valentine's day maybe? Who knows, all we know is that pink fur is going to be our go-to look for spring.
One of the trends we are most excited to try out this spring is the sheer look. SO glam!
Making it big in the fashion world that is! But just who are the most stylish siblings out there? UFashion.ie take a look at the world of style, fashion, beauty and celebs everyday. We see what the big trends are for the following season, we see who rocked that Valentino gown and who should definitely sack the stylist. But one of our favourite things we like to watch out for in the industry is which sisters are taking over the limelight in the fashion stakes. From Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen who brought stylish siblings to the forefront of the industry to the Jenner gals who are arguably, the most famous stylish sisters out there. UFashion.ie have decided to show our readers who our favourite celebrity siblings are (girls only of course) and just how to steal their style. We're afraid those high cheekbones and luscious lips must be genetic so unfortunately we don't have a 'steal her style' guide for those too. First up are Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The Olsen twins are the queens of sister style. From their Passport to Paris days to starting their own clothing line to being on the cover of Vogue's Best Dressed issue. No one can really argue that these two aren't up there in the top ten best dressed sisters in the world list. Sure if the evidence is there... They're style ranges from bohemian-chic to uber-gothic and uber-glam but there's one thing that is always consistent; they are always impeccably and meticulously dressed.
These meerkats have nothing to do with your outfit, but look how friggin’ cute they are?!
Two of the biggest events in celeb-land took place last night, but which one showcased the best style?
Sequins aren't just for winter, recycle your sequin pieces with a spring makeover So we all know the deal, it get to the 1st of November and you stock up on sequins like there's no tomorrow. Some of us are such die-hard sequins fans that we nearly buy out Penneys when it comes to sequins! Then, Christmas is over, January has come and gone and it's officially Spring. But that shouldn't mean that you have to throw away your once beloved, coveted sequined skirt. Or your sequin cami that got you through many a last-minute winter night out. Here in UFashion.ie, we believe that both puppy's and sequins aren't just for Christmas. Why let those favourite pieces go to waste just because sequins aren't littering the high st any more? We say stand out from the crowd and rock those sequins like never before. 'But sequins don't work in spring' you say? Well UFashion.ie is here to prove that statement wrong. We're all for taking our favourite winter party dress and reworking it so that it instantly becomes your favourite new addition to your spring wardrobe. Need some inspiration? Take a look below at how we plan on recycling our brightest and most fun members of our wardrobe!
Felicity, can we please be your friend?
The ‘I hate wearing heels’ girls guide to wearing heels.
If it's good enough for Khloe and Kylie, it's good enough for us! The check shirt isn't just associated with farmers and lumberjacks anymore. These days, the check shirt is one of our fashion staples here in UFashion.ie and also for bloggers, stylists and fashion people alike. It is one of the best pieces you can possibly have in your wardrobe as it rarely goes out of style. Yes, we may not see them on the catwalk every season but a check shirt is like a Coco Chanel suit; timeless (well for those who can afford a Chanel suit). Feeling a bit lazy on a Saturday afternoon? Throw on a check shirt! Too tired to think of something uber-stylish on a Monday morning? Tuck a check shirt into a pencil skirt and roll up the sleeves! Had a few-too-many Wednesday night cocktails after a hard day and are enduring the repercussions now? A check shirt should do the trick (and a strong coffee and a few painkillers too)! But with the many years of strong association, sometimes you may get that worrying feeling that you look more farm-like than budding-stylista. Fret not though, UFashion.ie is here to attest that this versatile and super-comfortable shirt can look as stylish as throwing on your fanciest dress-a little practice is all it takes really. It may not be office-appropriate for all you ladies out there but with the right skirt or fitted pants, you'll be able to throw one of these bad boys on and have the most comfy day in work. Take a look below for three of our favourite ways to style this button-down (while keeping in mind they're are at least a thousand other ways to style it!).
In one of Spring/Summer’s most sought after trends, the shirt dress!
With another day, comes a another collection of clothes to lust after!
It was a busy week in Hollywood with not one, but two awards ceremonies. Think of the style people!
With a new season comes a new colour, and this time it’s all about navy
And the award for most stylish goes to... January may be the bluest month going but one thing that definitely cheers this month up is the amount of award shows taking place! With the excitement of the style showcased at the Golden Globes only wearing off now, the National Television Awards couldn't have come any sooner. London was booming last night with some of TV's most stylish and we were glued to our screen's to see what some of our favorite 'reality' TV stars would be wearing. And they sure didn't let us down! TV hosts, actresses and singers alike came together to celebrate some of television's best moments (we can definitely think of a few from TOWIE and Made in Chelsea!) and wore their Sunday best in the process. UFashion.ie, after much deliberation might we add, have needled down the list of our pick of the best dressed to just 11! While some opted for a more demure look, others went all out with fishtails, sequins and bare midriffs (in January! We know!).
Girls is now officially back which means so is our crush on Ms Lena Dunham
Hey there Delilah, the plain white t-shirt is IN!
This uber-flattering look doesn't just have to be shunned to your casual closet! Understandably, when you think of cardigans you think of casual wear. Throwing a cardigan over a top and jeans for a dressed-down Saturday. Or popping a cardi over your work clothes when it hits 4 o'clock and you're getting yourself geared up to get out of there! There's no denying that with a cardigan comes much comfort. But here in UFashion.ie, we think a cardigan can offer a lot more than comfort and warmth to your everyday outfit, particularly a waterfall style one. Asymmetrical hems and uneven cuts are huge for Spring/Summer '15 and that doesn't just mean for the hemline of a dress or skirt.
And doesn't look a day over 60! That's what those drugs will do to you though But aside from her gaunt face, which can sometimes look more methamphetamine than model-esque, there's no denying that Kate Moss is one of the first and most influential style icons of the 2000's. Kate did not only invent the skinny jean, she also made messy hair a thing, was the inspiration for fur coats littering the high streets and made us all want to follow some rock band just so we can wear their faces on our t-shirts! Breton tops, biker boots and sheer blouse: she is one of the original bad girls of fashion (and the only reason we can think for Cara Delevingne and Rihanna trying to steal that title). Smoking while walking down a catwalk may not be cool (nor does it seem necessary and honestly, it looks downright hazardous) but this is just one small example of Ms Moss's influence of the fashion world. So after 27 years in fashion, we think it's safe to say that Kate Moss has made some pretty amazing style choices in her years. And of course, some not so good ones too! UFashion.ie are taking a look at some of her most iconic looks, and some of our personal favorites too. Finally, check out some of our favourite Kate Moss-inspired clothing available on site now. Ms Moss, take a bow! You have, and continue to show the fashion world who's boss! Happy Birthday!

Pippa’s top style tips, fashion picks and beauty buys in one place! This fortnight it’s all about dressing for house parties. Recently I’ve been invited to more house parties than usual. You want to be dressier than your usual day time casual look but not dressed for a night club. Somewhere in between can often be harder to create. So, as usual I went out in search of what I could find. I hope I chose something that will appeal to everyone. Much love Pippa x Look one These trousers are so effortlessly chic. I just love them. I think the stripes are flattering as they’re big. The material in them isn’t clingy for those that like the tapered shape but don’t want them skin tight. The slogan t-shirt makes this look very laid back. To finish it off I loved the pop of coral in the heels. Slogan t-shirt, €16.95/NI £12.99, Zara | Satin stripe peg leg trousers, €49.95/NI £39.99, Zara | Coral double strap heels, €60/NI £45, River Island Look two I think these jeans are so cool. They are a very soft jegging like material. They’re very comfortable despite being so tight looking. The wash in these is perfect for summer and the rough edges at the end give them an edgy feel. I teamed it with a powder blue cami and metallic chain. I love these matching strappy heels too. Cami top, €19.99/NI £14.99, H&M | Ripped jeans €61/NI £40, Topshop | Lilac heels, €60/NI £45, River Island | Necklace, €69, Stella & Dot Look three Probably my favourite of the three. This is a skort, which I love, making it much more comfortable and easy to wear than a mini skirt. This tropical print is gorgeous and bang on trend. I liked the idea of the t-shirt with this to give it a very relaxed look. I love a bit of bling, hence the fabulous statement necklace. The silver heels are to die for too! (Must add to my shopping list!) Grey LA t-shirt, €27/NI £18, Topshop | Lemon print skort, €54/NI £34, Topshop | Silver heels, €73/NI £48, Topshop | Necklace, €29.95/NI £25.99, Zara Beauty Buy Big Eyes Eyeshadow Compacts, €9.49, Maybelline I’m really enjoying using these new compacts from Maybelline. The compact is small enough to carry around. It contains all the colours you’ll need to create a full eye make up look. The pigments are very strong too and long-lasting.If you’re not sure on which colour to use where, there’s a guide on the back to tell you!
